What We’ve Learned During 60 Years of Business

May 26, 2020

Taking stock of over a half-century worth of industry expertise is humbling. At ArmRLite we have spent decades demonstrating to clients that we never waiver on quality. That resulted in positioning us as an industry leader and the go-to provider for architects, contractors, dealers, and homeowners alike. Superior, welded overhead doors don’t just happen by accident—they come from conscious manufacturing decisions to create the most durable outcome.

Throughout 60 years of business, we’ve remained true to our three organizational pillars: durability, customization, and family. These foundational elements are the backbone of the service and products which ArmRLite provides its clients. Our undisputed durability is a combination of our four-sided tubular extrusions and welding process. That durability, coupled with our 20-year warranty (unheard of in our industry), provides the ultimate peace of mind. Our customization options, while endless, can be simplified through our exclusive feature packages that you won’t find anywhere else. And, lastly, as a family-run Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE), and a certified manufacturer, we proudly serve and support dealers across all 50 states.

From the company’s founding by Jack Dourney in 1958, to his wife Wilma joining the firm in 1987, and then their daughter Shannon coming onboard in 1988, family has been ardent at ArmRLite. Shannon credits her parents with teaching her “every aspect” of the business. Of Jack she explains, “He believed in quality—a safe, strong, and easy to use product. He instilled structural integrity and longevity of business. My mother taught me customer focus and added a softness and approachability.” Realizing this perfect “recipe” for business, it’s the end-users who are the real beneficiaries of such incredible service and products.

It’s worth noting that ArmRLite has been leading industry trends before they became popular, by listening to customer requests and attending to demands of contractors, architects, and business owners. Here are some examples of product evolutions where ArmRLite has been out in front, leading from the get-go:

A growing market for ArmRLite overhead doors is the restaurant industry. Whether it’s utilizing the ADA Compliant Pass Door for wheelchair accessibility or opening an outdoor portion of a restaurant to provide that al fresco experience, ArmRLite provides the perfect options for expanding the dining experience and helping restaurants grow their business.

Today, corporate offices are also following suit to adapt ArmRLite overhead doors into the interior and exterior office settings to not only add more modern or industrial aesthetics, but, more importantly, create more flexible meeting spaces and office environments.

If there’s one thing our 60-year track record has proven, it’s that the possibilities are endless.
